Maintenance of equipment for the chemistry laboratory, including calibration and record keeping

Keeping records of chemicals, glassware, and other laboratory supplies and accessories.

Calibration of the instruments.

Stock verification and ordering of laboratory supplies.

Assisting chemistry faculty in preparing for laboratories.

Assisting chemistry faculty and students in conducting experiments, making solutions, etc. in the laboratories.

Assisting chemistry faculty and students in sample collection, preparation, testing and fieldwork.

Analysis of water and supervision of research students for water testing.

Other related duties as assigned by science faculty members.

Minimum of BSc degree or equivalent

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEGE AND SKILLS : Experience in working with physics and chemistry related equipment, chemicals and specimens.

Excellent English oral, reading and writing skills

Strong communication and organizational skills

Knowledge of laboratory terminology

Knowledge of chemical risks, hazards and safe handling

Ability to instruct students about lab use and safety

Able to work independently and in a team environment

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Strong computer skills particularly in the use of MS Word, Excel and Access.
