South Asia Insurance Company Ltd. has been incorporated in Bangladesh as a general insurer on 21st December 1999 under the companies Act (Act XVIII) of 1994, with the Registrar of Jointstock Companies of Bangladesh. Certificate for commencement of business was also obtained the same day from the Registrar. Certificate of registration from the Chief Controller of Insurance under section 3 of the Insurance Act,1938, as adopted in Bangladesh was also obtained on 29th December 1999 to carry on all types of general insurance business, such as, Fire, Marine, Motor, Engineering, miscellaneous, etc.
